An early rise, as you set out to the world famous Kruger National Park with our team of friendly safari guides. Truly the flagship of the South African national parks, Kruger is home to an impressive number of species: 336 trees, 49 fish, 34 amphibians, 114 reptiles, 517 birds and 147 mammals. It was established in 1989 to protect the South African Lowveld’s wildlife, and has been the subject of people’s fascination ever since.
Today, millions of visitors each year head to the Kruger National Park to enjoy the nearly 2 million hectares of unrivalled diversity of its life forms. You can look forward to a day filled with excitement as you get up close and personal with Africa, the way it was always meant to be.
Your safari experience continues as we explore some of the very best game drive routes that the Kruger has to offer. We stop off at a remote site where you enjoy a tasty picnic brunch, before further exploring the various view points and waterholes along the way.
Returning to the comforts of Thornhill Safari Lodge, you are in for another traditional African dinner before retiring to the peaceful sounds of the African bush.
This is your day, where you can relax and just take in the relaxing ambiance of the Lodge. Enjoy spending time around our welcoming pool sipping cocktails, or taking a Big Five game drive, or visiting a local animal rehabilitation centre. The possibilities are endless!

Choose between doing another full day Kruger National Park safari or a full day Panorama Route tour.
If you choose the Panorama Route Tour, after breakfast, we enjoy the rest of the day exploring the sights and sounds along the Drakensberg Escarpment’s Panoramic Route including the Blyde River Canyon, Three Rondawels, Gods Window and a few quaint little villages along the way.
We then return to Thornhill late in the afternoon and arrive just in time to freshen up before enjoying some delicious bushveld cooking.
If you choose another full day Kruger Park safari, after an early wakeup call you head back to the Kruger Park and enjoy another full day on an open 4x4 safari. This is the perfect opportunity to explore other prime game drive routes and to spot the animals you may have missed on your previous game drives.
After an insightful afternoon, we make the trek back to Thornhill in the late afternoon in time to freshen up before again enjoying some delicious bushveld cooking.
